The Opportunity
indieDwell is expanding its national footprint to bring inspired homes to individuals and families across the country. We are hiring a Safety Manager to report to the General Manager. The Safety Manager is responsible for developing and executing health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines, preparing and enforcing policies to establish a culture of safety and evaluating practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
General Responsibilities
The Safety Manager will:
Ensure the highest level of health and safety practices are followed; this includes wearing and demonstrating the proper use of essential safety equipment
Inspect the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks
Develop health and safety procedures for all areas of the factory
Assist in the development, training and implementation of HSE Policies and Procedures for the factory
Implement systems, document control, reporting, and auditing for all HSE Policies and Procedures
Assist with HSE Management System’s various audits, HSE Checks and inspections
Prepare and schedule training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics
Monitor compliance with safety procedures
Draft inspection reports to document inspection findings
Ensure that material safety data sheets (SDS) are maintained and readily accessible when needed
Assist with development and issuance of operational procedures and technical guidance to all team and management members in establishing and maintaining safety and health procedures
Conduct incident investigations, reporting and follow-up meetings
Assist with environmental, waste management, fire protection compliance and improvement activities
Research and make recommendations concerning Factory Personal Protection Equipment and Policies
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
5+ years of EHS experience applicable to operations, manufacturing and/or construction
Experience managing safety in a leadership role under the ISO 14000 and OHSAS 18000 protocols (ISO-9000 experience acceptable)
Working knowledge of Federal and State OSHA and labor standards for General Construction and Manufacturing Industries, as well as the general principles of Industrial Safety
Computer knowledge and efficiency, especially in cloud-based software, such as Google G-Suite, Slack, ClickUp, etc
Construction and / or manufacturing industry knowledge preferred
Comfortable working in a fast-paced and changing environment
Must have excellent organizational skills and communication skills
Strong attention to detail
